Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah
When I went to bed on August 16, I could feel someone standing next to my bed. In fact, I could almost see someone there. There was nothing frightening about my visitor; in fact, both of my cats lost no time jumping into bed with me and vying with one another for the side of the bed closest to our guest. I sensed that this being had come to take me somewhere in the dream dimension, and that it was important that I have conscious awareness of my journey.
The next thing I knew, I was in a place that was like a day care center, a place where children went to wait for their parents and to be lovingly looked after in the meantime. I felt a small child next to me, a girl. I put my arm around her and encouraged her to put her head in my lap. She was wet from one end to the other, and I heard a voice tell me that she had passed by drowning that day at the age of 4 1/2. We began singing songs, children's songs. I led "I've Been Working on the Railroad," and especially remember the part toward the end, "Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah." The child with me, and all the children and adults around us, became caught up in the song. I can't convey with words the joy I felt.
I did not know this beautiful child during her physical life, but felt -- and continue to feel -- boundless love for her. Those she left behind will know her by her song. Know that she is cocooned in love, and never any further away than a thought.
